Thou art god...

That’s right. You are god. God is you. You are one and the same with the entity that created you and the whole damn universe. You aren’t aware of this now, and even in reading these words over and over, you still won’t fully be aware of this. Not yet. But trust and believe, the very god that created all of existence is the energy that powers your thoughts right now.

As stated earlier, energy can never be created nor destroyed. There is an energy that is unique to you, that powers your thoughts and desires. To misquote cogito ergo sum, “You think, therefore you are!”

Call it consciousness or sentience, but pretty much all people will agree that they are alive and they can think and speak and interact with one another on some level. We exist. Most people will also agree that they are unique and their thoughts are their own. However, when asked the question, few humans can state with any certainty that they know why they exist, beyond the obvious reproductive aspects of their being.

Few people, aside from the religious clergy and truly devout followers, can actually claim they know anything about god.

First and foremost, let’s throw out religion. Most if not all religions put some sort of restrictions on people in their path to god. Religion has historically been used as an outright control mechanism, created by the powerful elite to control the masses. Get the people to believe that if you follow these rules, and only these rules, you will gain admittance to heaven or suffer eternally in hell.

For example, Christianity teaches its followers that you must accept Jesus Christ as your personal lord and savior to enter into the kingdom of heaven.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.

    For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth
not is condemned already, because he hath
not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

     -   John 3:16-18 King James Version

While John 3:16 is the cornerstone of Christianity, John 3:18 clearly states that all that do not believe in the Son of God is already condemned. There is only one path to salvation and eternal life in heaven, through Jesus. Nearly every religion says the same thing, in their own way.

Religion tells us that you have to go through an intermediary to get to god. Which is ridiculous because god already exists within you, and has from the very beginning of your existence. From your first moment of awareness to the words you are reading right now, god is right there as an integral part of you. Can you feel it already, or do you need more proof?

Ok… let’s take another look at religion for a moment. Most religions are based on some sort of written “book”. Most religions agree that god exists at some level. Most religions agree that “something divine” created everything. Many of you reading these texts already believe in some sort of religion, so you too would agree that god exists. Cool. Keep reading.

Most religions preach about good and evil, right and wrong, light and dark, and some sort of heaven and hell. Obviously, any human can talk to you for hours about the good and bad in everything. Positive and negative are fundamental aspects of the very matter that makes up everything around you, including your mind, body and soul.

Our world revolves around a sun that provides light for half the day leaving darkness behind. Humans do most of their good deeds by day, very evil and wrong things to one another on a regular basis, mostly when it is dark. Not to mention the predators that hunted the early humans only at night.

Nearly all religions today, evolved over time from the mythos early humans used to explain the natural world around them. The lack of scientific understanding leads us to god, in order to answer life’s many mysteries. It has been this way since humans started thinking.

Why does the sunshine bring warmth and make things grow? Why does the night bring the cold and the bloodthirsty demons to devour us? Is that the face of god we see when the moon is full?

We evolved from beings that had little understanding of the physical universe and filled in the gaps with the only thing that made sense. God. Beings that lived day to day, moment to moment with only one thing on their mind.

Survival.

As we began to understand more about the physical world, our intellect grew. As our species evolved from clustered tribes to the modern society we live in today, religion and belief systems evolved as a means to control populations. Religious institutions have arisen over the centuries to wield power over the gullible masses, by providing answers to questions no one can really answer. Religions promise rewards in the afterlife if you follow doctrine and dogma in this life.

Religions do speak to one’s moral character, provide spiritual guidance and a sense of community among fellow believers. If you are a true believer, you already have proof of god’s existence. You also devoutly follow some sort of moral code with the goal of gaining admission into heaven, because most religions preach that too. You probably violate that code, at least from time to time, which most religions call sin.

Religions of the world agree that there is a higher power that created the circumstances that have ultimately lead to you reading these words right now:

We exist because god so loved life that he gave his life in order to create all of us. This is another fundamental point of view professed by most religions. The sacrifice of god for the sake of man. So why not take this concept into the modern realm.

“If god is all powerful and all knowing, could he create a rock he himself could not lift?” Philosophers and theologians have been debating this question for millennia. However, in being omniscient, god would have to know everything that happens to everyone and everything in the entire universe already… past, present and future locked into one omniscient being all at once. He is the rock that he cannot lift.

If this is the case, than everything that happens in our lives is already written. We are all just going through the motions no matter what we may think. This version of god leaves no room for free will, as all of our actions and life events have been pre-destined by god. It is the will of god, you are supposed to suffer tragedy in life, so have a nice day.

Very few people support predestination, as free will is an integral part of our psyche. We believe that we have choices, because when we look back on some of them, we wish we could go back and choose differently. The knowledge that we’ve made bad decisions in the past supports free will, because we are aware of the consequences of our actions, and have the power to learn from our mistakes. Even if we repeat them.

Since we have free will, then god cannot know everything that will happen. Which means that god is not omniscient. So what is god? I don’t know, do you? Does anyone know?

What we think we know, is that at some point in time in the past, about 14 billion years ago, there was absolutely nothing. No universe, no galaxies, no stars, no planets, no molecules... nothing but a singularity (we think). Then suddenly with a big bang, everything started being created.

Most scientists would agree that the universe started at a point of singularity. Then, it exploded in a massive release of energy, creating all of the matter that makes up the universe. Could that singularity have been god?

Every molecule that is in your body right now was also at that time being formed in the process. From the separation of the four fundamental forces, to the quarks, electrons and neutrinos burning into elemental particles like hydrogen and oxygen, the early universe was a radiating glow of primordial energy. Over billions of years, that primordial energy spawned galaxies, stars and planets, including the one you are sitting on right now… Earth.

The law of conservation of energy states that energy can not be created or destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another or transferred from one body to another, but the total amount of energy remains constant.

Under this fundamental law of physics, all of the energy that exists in the universe was released at the moment of its creation. From a metaphysical point of view, the energy that flows through your consciousness at this moment is connected to the primordial energy of creation. We are a product of divine creation, with the energy of god powering our awareness.

To what purpose? Let us suppose again that god did have omniscience, and could know everything that is going to happen, and that we do not have free will. What would be the point of all of that? Why would god create the heavens and the earth if he already knew everything that will ever happen?

It’s like watching the same show over and over again. The technical definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Is god insane?

If you were an all powerful being that knew everything that would possibly happen, you might go crazy if you were all alone and had no one to talk to you. Or you might choose a different course of action, set everything in motion to see what would happen, and follow along for the ride as an observer. What a better way to learn about life, in all of its wonderful facets, than to experience it first hand along with your creations.

Since energy can never be destroyed, this would also mean that the energy unique to each of us must exist beyond our body’s life span. The thoughts that became these words, and the thoughts created from reading these words are powered by electrochemical energy inside our brains. We know that at some point in the future, our bodies will stop working and our brain will die. Where does our energy go?

What does happen to your consciousness when you die? This is where religion, and all other postulations of an afterlife must be completely thrown out the window. Aside from anecdotal accounts of near death experiences, no one has ever died and come back to life with verifiable reports from heaven or hell.

There is no scientific or other kind proof that there is any kind of afterlife whatsoever. When you’re dead, you’re dead. Yet there may be light at the end of the tunnel, if you begin to accept that god’s energy and our energy is one and the same.

Our spiritual being is powered by divine energy, and is everlasting.

Just as it is unlikely that earth is the only planet that harbors intelligent life, it is unlikely that our existence ends with oblivion. It would seem to be a waste of space if we are the only intelligent species in the universe. It would also be a waste of energy for us to go through the experience of life without carrying what each of us has learned beyond physical death.

Even the process of death has lessons for the spiritual being within each of us. Death represents an end to the cycle of life. For those of us still living, we must embrace something to comfort us in the knowledge that someday our own life will end. Dying is one of our profoundly deepest fears.

This is a certainty in the physical realm. For centuries, religious institutions have controlled humans with the promise of an afterlife. Follow our rules, fight our battles, die as we would have you die, and you will live forever. This continues today, as we continue to fight meaningless wars based on ideology with archaic religious roots. We hasten our enemies’ transformation to heaven in the name of god.

Or when we kill our enemies, are we sending them to hell? Who’s hell are we sending them to? Do you believe there is a hell?

This fundamental tenet of most religions is “thou shall not kill”. Yet most of the people killed in war are killed because of their religious beliefs. Ideology is a powerful tool in motivating men to pick up arms to defend king and country, to fight for their beliefs even if they are based on lies. The comfort of god’s countenance for an honorable death in battle has cost too many young lives throughout history.

Again, to think that this collective human experience is wasted on oblivion, without any sort of retention by the cosmos is a sad thought indeed. We don’t want to believe that it all ends and nothing remains. At the same time, humanity has been following the same old stories, carrying on the same old traditions and practicing the same old rituals for far too long. It’s time to shift our archaic beliefs to a more enlightened paradigm.

God’s energy is the divine spark of all creation, and is the fundamental underlying force of all existence. Humans have a unique spiritual energy within them, that cannot be destroyed. Our spiritual energy is transformed to god’s energy when we die, giving our lives eternal meaning and purpose. The lessons and experiences we learn throughout life are carried with our spiritual energy, as a part of the greater lessons and experiences of god’s energy for all eternity.

In essence, our raison d’être – our reason for being – is to experience life and bring those experiences back to god. We are a recording device, a learning device, a tool for a superior – yet somehow equal entity – to truly understand itself and know everything there is to know.

After all, what a better way to become omniscient, than to experience countless lifetimes and learn from infinite mistakes. Each life unique, filled with triumphs and tragedies, love and sadness and laughter. Laughter… imagine the jokes god can tell!

Imagine the experiences of not only the billions of lives on this planet, but the billions of other planets just like ours strewn throughout the universe. What a massive amount of information would be collected. That would be true omniscience. Not to be all knowing and all powerful and all controlling, but to set everything in motion just to learn everything there is to know in the process.

Humans have based the concept of god, creation and death upon supposition and conjecture, created and perpetrated by the ruling class to control everyone else. The whole time, god is just behind a thinly veiled curtain that you have to cut through millennia of human lies to see. Once you open your mind to the probability that what you have been told to believe is wrong, your heart will open to god’s universal energy. You will become aware that your spirit is truly a part of god, and that god’s energy drives your spirit.

You will also become aware that you’ve known about god’s energy all along. You have felt god’s energy throughout your life, felt its ebb and flow in times of elation and sorrow. You will know and truly believe in god in a completely different way from this point forward, because you will begin to see that the words you have just read will begin to ring true.

God’s energy is what humans call love.
